Court issues arrest warrant for Minister Kiwanda over Shs100m debt

By Francis Otucu

The High Court in Kampala has issued an arrest warrant to Tourism Minister Godfrey Kiwanda Suubi after failing to pay Shs 104, 574, 700 million.

Details of Kiwanda’s arrest is contained in a warrant dated March 19, 2019 to city bailiff, T/a New Buffalo associates.

Court argues that Kiwanda has declined to pay the plaintiff, Jain Rajnish Shs 104, 574, 700 million, a matter court says dates back to 2011.

This agreement, we understand was before the chief Magistrates Court of Mengo, Civil Suit No. 3454 of 2011.

To date however, court says Kiwanda has not settled his April 4, 2012 commitment.

It is against the above background that Kiwanda is wanted.

“This serves to direct the responsible police officers to assist, witness and ensure that this execution is done in an orderly manner,” part of the arrest warrant signed by High Court registrar, Deo Nzeyimana reads in part.
